marijuana and azathioprine

by John Whitney

Hello,

I have been taking azathioprine for a few months and I know it is a lot for the liver to handle. The doctor has me get my liver enzymes checked every 4 months to make sure that it is metabolizing the medicine properly, and so far my liver enzymes are great! I was just wondering if it is safe to smoke marijuana once every couple weeks while on azathioprine? I am in college, and I do not really drink anymore because I know that alcohol can be a lot for my liver to handle, but I would like to be able to smoke marijuana every once in a while.

Thank you very much for your help!

I suggest that you discuss the merits of doing this with your doctor. The long-term side-effects of marijuana use include chronic depression in later life, etc. http://www.drugs.com/cannabis.html

There is a synthetic derivative K2 on the market that causes heart problems.
