bowel resection crohn's disease

Had bowel resection 4 weeks ago (22" removed). Recovered well, back to work last Thursday. Started experiencing pain between my rib cage - upper abdomen and it became quite hard and swollen. Visited my gastroenterologist today and he's sending me for an urgent CT scan to see what's happening.

Anyone else have complications after surgery? He wouldn't say what it could be just that it was urgent that we determine what it was.

Thanks

If you had a resection and wants to gain weight and muscle mass, then u should definitely join a gym and do some body building. My son also had a resection, lost alot of weight, but started the gym 12 months after surgery, its amazing to see in just 3 days after joining the gym u can actually see the big muscles in his arms.Up till this day he is still actively involve in the gym.

Trying to rebuild
by: Back from Hell

I had the same surgery three weeks ago, most of the pain stopped last week but still getting that pulling burning sensation in rib cage and also in one side. I have swollen feet and was told by doctors that it is scar tissue that hurts and will eventually stop, was also told that my swollen feet are from the malnutrition that I went through for a couple months before the emergency surgery. I lost a total of 30 pounds in 3 months and I'm trying hard to gain some back now, so far eberything I eat goes through me so fast that I'm worried that its going to take a long time to gain weight back, I lost a lot of muscle and I'm starting to get stronger again but wow, what a challenege to walk during that first week after the surgery,I was nearly parylized. Right now, I have no idea what sort of diet to follow, I eat soft bland foods.

Hi,
I had bowel resection in End of April 2010.
Have been suffering alot with IBS and pain since surgery.
My doctors says it will take time with recovery.Does anyone else suffer with this since operation?

Pain
by: Anonymous

I had my bowel resection surgery in April '09 after they discovered that I had an abcess and fistula. I have had pain ever since in the same area. I have been to the emergency room numerous times to no avail. My gastro guy says that it is because the anatomy has been changed and the nerves are freaking out. Gives me pain medication and says it will take time. Anyone else still having pain this long after surgery? If so, when did it go away?

Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!:)

PAIN AFTER RESECTION

Kyle:

Turns out my problem was gallstones. The pain eventually subsided and surgeon said he couldn't do more surgery in that area for 6 months. I was scheduled to have surgery last February but I opted not to and hope that it was a one time problem. I've been gallstone free since then!

Good luck with your issue - Hope it's something as simple.

All the best

I just had the same thing done and its been about 6 weeks after my surgery I am having the same problem. A very sharp pain in that same localized area. It hurts to press on it with my finger. I am not sure if I pulled a muscle because I tried to do to much or something but it hurts. I was fine the previous couple weeks.
