Radiation treatments.

Hi, I am a grandmother of an 18 year grandson that was diagnosed with Crohn's about 2 weeks ago they say his colon has it real bad.He's been sick all last week and he was told by the docs that he can not have any milk products and they mentioned doing radiation treaments on him. Has anyone here have had this done,they say it's a new treatment that just came out,but it worries me so very much.Can anyone help me and answer my question.
