I am being treated for Crohn's disease with Pentasa(melsalamine), Questran (to bind bile acid), Immodium, Imuran and now I am supposed to start steroids today...reluctantly. But nothing seems to stop the flare ups every couple days, so my doctor also gave me Xanex for anxiety, I notice a calming effect, but the most incredible lethargy and depression it seems to have an afterlife, I always feel lousy, I have a 40 hr week job I have been only getting there two or three days a week and late almost every day, because I am sick in the toilet every morning, I allow myself 4 hours before leaving the house, and I am exhausted. I don't even want to live some days, but I want to be well and when I told doctor about Xanex, he now wants to give me an antidepressent Paxil. I said I am so sick and also sensitive to all the side effects and he said if I feel like jumping out a window on Paxil and steroids to call 911 first!!! Help!!! Any suggestions this is my 4th doctor and because I am new patient he said to try steroids and Remicade before he will put me on disability!!!!

Medication for anxiety by: JoAnne
I take medication for anxiety and stress and have not had a flair up in four years. My gallbladder had to be removed by no flair ups. Fish oil helps as well. I do have to take any medication for Crohn's and I don't take steroid shots any more. My doctor doesn't like it but, it is my life and I don't like all the medication. I have other health problems well that I can't go without taking my meds.
