marijuana and chrons disease

by Angie
(Burnley, England)

hi i was wondering if anybody '''knows anybody''' who has used cannabis for medicinal purposes for chron's disease, i haven't myself and have been on the tablets since i was 19, at a party when i was at get together when i was roughly 30 and a joint was being passed around. I suffered from all usual problems )nausea, uneasiness around people, pain, tenderness, and just miserable

anyway the get together lol. i smoked some of the joint and noticed over the next few hours i felt quite well as in no pain, no nausea and the rest.. On telling my friends of the get together (who happened to be hippes we met on holiday) that my pains had gone after i had smoked the cannabis they said ''oh we know that already, cannabis has been used for hundreds of years as an inflamatory medicine mostly in tribes'' i was quite intrigued as its a flamatory disease... so before me and my husband left, our friend allison assured me to take enough for 1 ciggarette and said ''dont waste it, when your pains get really bad, use it then, and see what happens'' sure enough over the next few weeks it stared to play up again and got so bad my husband was waiting on me hand and foot.. he made the ciggarette and i was fine....it was such a relief. coincidence ??? i dont know.

I haven't wanted to smoke it ever since that day and i am 45 now, and i really dont know if that was a genuine good medicine for our condition. i dont look at cannabis as a 'druggie' drug like heroin or cocaine (although they are also used medicinally) i simply see it as a harmless plant that may be able to give chron's sufferers a long deserved rest
can anyone add to this or give me more information on

cannabis for chron's disease

Cannabis cured my Chrons?
by: The Swede

I've had chrons disease since I was 16, I'm 26 now. I smoked every now and then since age 17 up to 21 years old, after that I started sellin it to friends till a year ago wich resulted in smoking CB every day! Gradually I noticed that I did'nt need to take my meds as often as prescribed, 2 Pentasa and 2 Imurel or Azatioprin every morning and evening, 8 pills total every 24 hrs. Now I take those meds iregularly, 2 Imurel and 2 Penatasa every 6th day or so.. Before I smoked CB every day, my stomach fucked up by just missing a morning or evening medication with loss of apetite, stomach ake and diarea! Thank nature for this wonderfull herb! Also when taking the prescribed set of meds every day made me nauseous and every joint in my body was hurting! That also disappeared when I smoked CB and was a huge factor why I even started using CB in the first place, except for the rush from it.
Today I study at the university and have no cannabis availability but still take my meds that rarely as mentioned. Have Cb somewhat cured me?

Anyways, too bad it's illegal in my country.. :(

Don't be idiots

Assuming you haven't smoked yourself retarded, use what's left of your brain.. pretty much whatever you put in your mouth will end up in the GI tract. That includes smoking, be it weed, cigarettes, or whatever. You may feel "better" while stoned, but the extra irritation you're doing to your plumbing whether you feel it immediately or not, will likely hurt you in the long run. All the residue, resin, and we'll call it "other stuff" that comes with any smoking, affects more than your mouth/trachea/lungs. Do the research if ya don't want to believe me.

cannibliss

hey iv had crohns since i was 12 (20 now) and have only found remission with prednisone for the time i am the course of the drug. however i have found that cannibis is the best thing for me in terms of sympton relief, it makes abdominal pain disapear and best of all gives me an appetite! it is also great for relieving the boredom induced by a flare up and a perfect alternative to alcohol as a recreational drug, (drinking aggravates my condition so much that even a pint would feel as if i had swallowed toxic waste!) i feel as long as cannibis is smoked sensibly with as little tobacco as possible then it greatly helps with sympton relief. better yet personally i find baking cannibis resin into cakes or brownies is even better and has a positive effect on my internal inflammation for a very short time (1 day). i would however advise anyone with crohns to exercise extreme caution with regards to ingesting it as this may be detrimental rather than beneficial. just make sure any cannibis you intend to have is of good quality and free from anything you dont want in your body. obviously legalization and proper regulation would remove this problem and ensure high quality but thats never going to happen is it?! also dont get caught if you live in the wonderful usa

STOCK UP!!
by: Mikaela

hI, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 2 years ago after suffering years of pain and acusations that I was bullemic and taking all sorts by the supposed "Medical Proffessional" that was supposed to be looking out for me.
About a year ago I was suffering from the most horrific pain in my joints and chest.. It got to a point I was climbing over the furniture in the middle of the night raving from the insanity! I couldn't sleep, eat, even find a position to sit properly.. During this time my friend visited and presented me with a tin full of little joints and I haven't looked back since!!
I'm not claiming its a miricle cure but during a flare up it does wonders for me!! I'd reccomend it to anyone who is suffering to just give it a go.. As far as I've experienced I've had no side affects with it either whereas the pain relief offered to me from the doctors just seem to make me worse..

maybe

ivehad crohns for 4 years now and couldnt tell you whether it helps or not ill just tell you what happens with me, ive smoked cannabis for a long time and also cigarettes, the cigarette is a definate no no nicotine itself causes inflammation but as for weed itself i honestly believe it helps with my general pain and discomfort, its a relaxant so when im in pain i always have a smoke and it nearly always helps, even if it just calms me down and stops my anxiety, as we all know stress is a major factor of crohns, if you are in pain or discomfort then your mind will be stressed, you should try everything you can to make your life easier, legal or not

not likely
by: Anonymous

If anything it just relaxed you and maybe numbed some of the pain. It tends to be more of a mental thing than anything with weed, hence people arguing to legalizing it. I could care less either way, just saying.

cannibus
by: Tod

Back in the 80s I went down to mexico and went to hell with myself as far as food is concerned.
Needless to say between the water and the unusual cuisine i proceeded to do my entire colon and stomach a real disservice to say the least.
i went to a local doctor that some of the help at the hotel reccomended. When i was there he perscribed cannibus to relieve the symptoms and spasms and, let me tell you, it worked wonders!
Unfortunately it is not a normally prescribed remedy here but is sure as hell should be!
