Abdominal pains and dizziness NEW
by: Annette

Hello there,

I am sorry to read that you have felt unwell for so long. Fatigue and abdominal pains are certainly a symptom of crohn's disease but you don't mention whether you have gone to the doctors for assistance.

These symptoms could be typical of other conditions too so it is vital that you gain a correct diagnosis. In the meanwhile, start to keep a food diary to see whether you feel worse after any particular foods -dairy products or spicy foods for example.

The more information that you can give to your doctor the more able they will be to help you. Are you eating well? Are you not eating hardly at all? This could account for the dizzy spells. Make a note of all of the meals you eat and any feelings experienced afterwards. Do remember to slow down your eating and to chew your food well, also have easy to digest foods to take the pressure off of your digestive tract.

Here is a list of easier to digest foods but remember they will not suit everyone so introduce them a little at a time.

It's good that you are exercising but are you doing too much? You need to work with your body and to listen to it. If you are overdoing your fitness training you could be doing more harm than good.

Are you able to sleep ok? Feeling stressed?
Stress and anxieties are powerful triggers of crohn's in the fact that they make the problem worse so where possible, try not to worry about the condition but do something positive instead and seek further assistance.

It can be scary to be ill and to not know what is the problem but all you can do is to learn as much about it as possible and to ask for help.

I hope the doctors manage to diagnose you soon.

Best wishes,

Annette Young

It could be blockages - chew your food very well or puree or mash all your food.

You should avoid all fast food, artificial food additives, monosodium glutamate, colas, sodas, sweets, chocolate, sweet biscuits/cakes, etc. Eat good wholesome, spice-free, home cooking.

You might need a small bowel follow through to check whether or not you have a stenosis or stricture. Discuss everything with your doctor.

Dizzy spells could be due to anemia which comes with Crohn's due to a loss of blood...inadequate blood means inadequate oxygen and iron to the maintenance of health, and dizziness results, light-headedness, etc..Have you been diagnosed with Crohn's?
