crohns and pain
by: Anonymous

I have had chronic crohns disease for 22 years and have lost count of the amount of major surgeries i have had its over 40 and many many minor surgeries i have about 5cm of small bowel left for surgeons to work with. My crohns has not been in remission for 12 years have tried all trials nothing will control it so am on permanent pain medication which is so hard to control, and is very addictive please try everything you can before going down this road. Also find a damn good gastro and surgeon.

Flare ups
by: Anonymous

Flare ups generally subside within a week or so if you are taking it easy on what you eat and are drinking lots of water. Try to take note as to what triggers them,(i.e. food, drink, and etc.) Does your pain get worse after you eat solid food.
Are you often constipated? If so, you may be experiencing a blockage, which was the case with me. I had a small bowel resection 5/08 followed by Remicade every 8 weeks. I haven't had a serious flare since.

Maybe it's something you're eating? Or not eating/drinking enough in general?
I ask cause diet and vitamins seem to have played the biggest part for me. A little exercise works wonders too.

remicade or Humira

have you tried either one of these treatments? I was in constant pain for years on end. now i am literally pain free. By the way, I have had Crohns for 40 years!
