health insurance

by maryann
(Omaha, Nebraska)

My brother has crohns and I was wondering if anyone knows a insurance company he can use that does not have extremely high rates? Mutual of Omaha raise his premiums from $200.00 to $500.00 recently. Is there an alternative?

Thank you

Disability is an option, there could be something available through the state as well. At least there is here in Illinois. That's the route I have to go once my cobra lapses assuming I don't find more work by then, cause no one will insure me cause of the crohns. I currently have blue cross through cobra, and they wouldn't even issue me a new policy!
Not to state the obvious, but try not to let his insurance lapse, or he could be screwed for the first year with new insurance if they have a pre-existing condition clause.
