Crohn's & Bones

by Sabrina

I was told that crohn's disease can make your bones brittle and 'easier' to break? Also if someone who has crohn's get a cold or the flu, are the symptoms worse because of the crohn's?
Thanks for your replys

Well,
by: me

I haven't read anything about crohns having a direct effect on your bones, but it's pretty safe to say all of us have been on some form of steroid. So "they" say, steroids can decrease the formation of new bone, and increase the breakdown of old bone. Add to that, crohns allegedly decreases nutrient absorption. I'm not a doctor, certainly haven't read everything out there, but most of the research I've done has come up with similar results. Search around, see what ya can find, and take supplements!
