crohn's and going back to school

I am planning on quitting my job with excellent health benefits to go back and get my Master's degree. Since i have Crohn's and i have been receiving remicade treatments, school insurance wont cover me. I was wondering if anyone else has a difficult time getting private insurance (due to pre-existing conditions) or extending COBRA coverage for more than the 18 months period??
