Teeth are a big issue with Crohn's, but it does not have to be this way. A lot of damage is due to Crohn's malnutrition - lack of nutrients due to malabsorption or an unhealthy and imbalanced diet.

He is obviously not looking after himself properly. I doubt that he is brushing his teeth twice a day, using dental floss and a mouthwash as recommended by the dentists. He needs a long session with the dentist, his teeth polished and instruction in basic dental hygiene. http://www.bupa.co.uk/individuals/health-information/directory/d/caring-for-your-teeth

He also ideally needs a few sessions with a nutritionist. Your son must ensure that he is eating properly. He needs a vitamin-rich diet with loads of minerals. He shouldn't be drinking cola or sodas. They acidify the body and remove calcium from the body and the gas will cause abdominal pain with active disease. Alcohol prevents the uptake of vitamins and should not be taken with most medication anyway. Fatty, fried fast foods, all do not have many vitamins to speak of. http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/list-VitaminsMinerals/

As Peter wrote there is plenty of information on this on the internet.

Obviously, as his mother you gave him adequate instruction on basic hygiene and diet, but he obviously is not following it. To be quite honest is his problem if he ends up with false teeth at age 30.

You have obviously done your best to instruct him as to how to look after himself properly, but it has not worked. A lot of men seem unable or unwilling to look after themselves properly. He is not a baby anymore - he should be looking after himself. The problem with teeth is that infections can quickly set in and these infections can be carried to the heart and cause heart damage and disease.
