Chron's after Colon removal

I was at the hospital last night. The dr told me I might have Chron's due to my symptoms. They took my colon out when I was 19, but now I'm having a lot of flare ups. Is it possible to get Chron's if I still have an inch of the colon? Did I understand what the dr was saying to me, or was he making a hypothesis? Help, I'm scared, with 3 children to take care of.
