Azathioprine and pregnancy

by Clark

I was diagnoised with Crohn's Disease when I was 17, now I am 29. I had a resection in 2003. Since then I have been symptom free. I have been taking Aza and Pentasa since. When my husband and I decided to start a family I spoke to my doctors about stopping the Aza. My doctor said I had a 50/50 chance of having a flare up, considering I had been in remission for so long. I choose to stop taking the Aza because of possible side effects. After 5 weeks of stopping I had a mild flare up and I am now taking the Aza again along with Entocort( only for 3 more weeks). I really did not want to take Aza while I was pregnant, which I'm not yet...I don't think...but with my body not responding well to being off of it, I guess to stay healthy I don't have much of a choice. My question is has anyone taken Aza during pregnancy and if so were there any complications?
